Tired of the cheap stuff wearing out?
I am ashamed to say I have gone through numerous flatware sets in my life. Okay, okay, so I don’t take the greatest care of them. Perhaps they sit in the sink overnight when I should have washed them. I am guilty. Guilty! … Consequently I tend to have problems with my flatware “pitting” — getting little spots of rust on them. Eventually I end up throwing away the set and getting a new set, which invariably gives me the same problem.
The blame for this doesn’t rest *entirely* on my shoulders, though. They don’t make flatware like they used to, for the most part. These days it’s all cheap stuff, made in China, with as little quality as can be gotten away with. Modern Made-in-China flatware just doesn’t last for 30 years like your grandparent’s set did, no matter what you do.
So I decided to actually do some research and get a “real” set. So it turns out that most of the cheap stuff is “18/0″ — 18% chromium for strength and 0% nickel. If a set doesn’t…
Stylish and sturdy
