Lightweight and Durable
The Snow Peak Titanium Single 600 Wall Cup is an excellent choice for those ultra-light backpackers who like to count ounces and shave weight wherever possible. This lightweight cup is made from Titanium and only weighs a mere 2.8 ounces/80 grams. Yet, it is exceptionally strong and durable. I typically use this cup to heat water on backpacking trips for Mountain House freeze dried meals. I use the MSR Pocket Rocket Stove. There is nothing like a warm meal on a chilly night out in the wild. The cup holds 21.2 ounces which is more than enough for freeze dried meals. The cup will not rust and does not have a metallic taste. Titanium does transfer heat so you may want to use gloves when heating water or other liquids or you risk getting burned. My cup came with a small black stuff sac.
My only real criticisms of this cup is that it is not wide enough to nest a 32 ounce Nalgene bottle which is the preferred…
lightweight and versatile
Another well though out design from Snow Peak. This was a replacement for my 20 year old sierra cup. It is more than twice the volume of the sierra cup, yet is significantly lighter. The cool thing for me is how it integrates well to my backpacking set up. Because it is single wall and has a fairly wide base, I can heat water in it directly if traveling fast and light. Also, my 1qt. Sigg bottle nests inside of it with a little room to spare. I put the included stuff sack around the base of the Sigg bottle to keep it from getting scratched up and have enough room to slide in a few tea bags, too. Rather than getting the Hot Lips option, I place one of those flat ~1/2″ silicone bracelets around the rim of the cup. It works great. Another tip is that the plastic top from a small Folger’s container can also fit on top. It is not a perfect fit, but with a little effort it will snap shut over the rim.
Nice mug
Received this as a Christmas gift a few years ago, sort of as a gag, as I am notorious for breaking glasses I drink out of. It has been a great cup for beverages. Very light, of course. After more than a few time hitting the ground, its not dented, certainly not shattered. After a hundred washes the lettering is still perfect. Does not hold taste. When using it with a hot beverage like coffee, as long as the liquid is not filled to the brim, the metal lip will not get to hot for drinking. I would give 5 Star but for one design defect. It is just a hair too narrow to nest a 1 Liter Nalgene bottle inside it for hiking or daily carry. I honestly believe if Snow Peak made the 600 slightly wider to accommodate Nalgene bottles they would increase sales substantially.
