nice size the serving bowl is a nice size for holding a vegetable for dinner. the colors aren’t as vibrant as the picture shows. it doesn’t come in a box for gift giving. it’s wrapped in a lot of foam padding. I bought it for a gift and wish it were in a box but I think she will like it overall. beautiful! This is just beautiful and the price, even better. Perfect Gift for Spode Collector Granted this is a very specialized dish, but that is what makes it perfect for any Spode Christmas Tree collectors on your gift list. Bought this set November 2010 Bought this set November 2010. Beautifully packed, quick delivery, lovely set! However I broke the dinner plate and have hunted all over the place for one plate. Utterly beautiful This Spode pattern is both lush AND classic – wonderful for those of us who already have all the perfectly tasteful (read UNADORNED) Rosenthal and Wedgewood we can stand. Spode is a great gift for granddaughters! My six granddaughters love receiving gifts of Spode dishes for Christmas, High School graduation, and college graduation! The oldest is in Med-school, and the youngest is in Highschool…it works…and they love it!! Their collections are growing each year! Pesakh Yaffa I decided to upgrade for Passover last Spring. I looked for as much of the Spode pieces for Passover as I could find after looking for a week or so for a design we liked. Artistic but traditional, and something that looks like it has been used for 100 years. The Spode Matzah Plate, the dishes featuring a Magen Dawid and Mazel Tov were perfect for more than Passover, the Kiddush Cup, and the Seder Plate. There are other pieces to collect, and you won’t find them all at Amazon or any one seller. But all this stuff is beautiful and matches perfectly. As a single piece not so much since it is distinctive enough to not match just anything you grab up. A most beautiful Seder plate – and I’m not Jewish! I gave this to a friend as a Wedding gift. The Spode Judaica collection is some of the most beautiful Judaica I’ve seen, and I’ve seen a lot shopping with friends who are Jewish. Oversized, heavy weight pieces, creamy white porcelean, richly detailed in a gorgeous blue with beautiful symbols taken from old judaica manuscripts. Versatile plate for breakfast, appetizers, or dessert. I have been using my Christmas Tree Spode for over 25 years and every year I love it as much as the first time I set my Dinner table with it. I use it starting the month of December for breakfast. Our five kids grew up with it and 3 of them are waiting for me to pass my set on to them. It is Classic, warm, traditional and of course reminds me of England and the old fashioned trees that you think about during Victorian Times. It’s fun to use the mugs for December Soup Parties! Another addition I started my collection of this wonderful pattern with eight five piece place settings. Each year I try to add more pieces to the set, such as this vegetable dish. Made in England This is a beautiful cup and saucer set, with a bunny on the saucer, quail and pheasant on the outside of the cup, and the snipe on the inside of the cup. Love it I am so glad that I waited to get the SPODE pieces rather than a knock off. The colors in the pheasant are rich. I will be happy to buy this set one piece at a time for affordability to get the set I want. Beautiful design, traditional pattern with modern safety and durability This pattern called out to me from Bloomingdale’s when I first saw the Woodland rabbit on a pitcher. It’s perfect for Fall and Thanksgiving tables. I love that it’s the identical pattern Spode used in the 19th Century, but made lead-free, dishwasher safe, etc. for modern families. The table looks especially good when you mix up the various birds/animals at each place. As for Spode quality, it is excellent and long established. Not made in England – Spode Soup Rimmed Bowls I did not know, until I received my rimmed soup bowls, that Spode is now being made outside of England. Much to my dismay, my ‘made in Malaysia’ bowls do not nestle together with my other bowls that were made in England. The bowls made in Malaysia are also of inferior quality, with flaws and unevenness in the pottery itself. They are slightly smaller than my original Spode bowls. I am very unhappy with my purchase, but did not know, at the time, to ask if they were made somewhere other than England. I will not make that mistake again. As soon as I can afford to, I will be replacing these inferior bowls with the real – made in England – soup bowls. Reputable sellers should include whether their Spode is made in England or elsewhere. Great price-great value. I’ve been looking for a sugar and creamer set in this pattern, and couldn’t justify paying the prices I see at other vendors’ web sites. Amazon offered very nice quality for a very reasonable price! The sugar bowl and creamer complete my Spode Christmas Tree collection of dishes and serving pieces. Perfect for a Christmas dinner! These were exactly what I was looking for to complete my collection. They came in perfect condition, well packaged. Great for Christmas dinners, or a Christmas present. Not Amazon’s usual quality I do not know what happened with my order. It was supposedly “in stock” at Amazon’s warehouse (not coming from a vendor). I received it two+ weeks after the date it was promised. While it was in the original Spode box, the packing material was missing and it was haphazardly wrapped in a couple pieces of used bubble wrap. The gravy boat stand was clearly a “second” as it had an irregular green rim painted around the edge and a chip that had been covered over with paint and glaze. To make the order even more weird, it was shipped in a box from a coffee manufacturer that had food grease stains inside of it. There were UPS labels all over the box with personal information crossed off. I suspect Amazon received this as a return and sent it to me without checking the item or repackaging it in their shipping container. I always trusted Amazon to provide first quality merchandise at good prices, but will be very leery in the future! Now I know why I paid $63.99 for ...
