The people in this tiny town in Italy have been doing majellica for hundreds of years, they know what they’re doing. The vendor was excellent – it arrived from Italy quickly and in perfect condition. Comes with a catalog showing the full range of products – if you furnished your kitchen and house with this stuff (they have tables costing $5,000) you’d probably think you were hallucinating, but this little item is perfect. Blue and White: Romantically Classic Since I like to collect teacups and saucers, including Churchill, quite some time ago, I jumped at this affordable set of four Blue Willow. The `true love legend’ back-story is sweet and the pattern evokes fond memories, since it has been around for so very long. Sitting down to a nice little cup of herbal tea or hot chocolate is made all the more delightful with this set. They have stood up perfectly to daily microwave and dishwasher use. This set was made in England which is a HUGE plus, since I have found that the quality is fully there when coming from England as opposed to a couple of other countries that some of the Churchill ware is sometimes manufactured in. The right fit After a long search I found the perfect expresso cup. Perfect in its handling, has a great design, besides its great workmanship. With WMF products its difficult being disappointed. Overpriced! I like the style and overall of the set, but the saucer’s edge is curved down. So if you spill your coffee it will end up on your lap. Good but not great. I bought two cup and saucer sets. The sets are attractive and the cups look great on top of my espresso machine, but I find the saucers problematic: - If any liquid spills from the cups the large flat rims of the saucers do little to contain the spill and it’s a mess. - What liquid stays on the saucer creates a vacuum that sucks the cup tight to the central recess and when that bond breaks it’s a mess. - The saucers are difficult to pick up from a flat surface with one hand because of the dropped flange of the rim. - Despite being stainless steel the saucers scratch easily and are hard to keep looking clean. - The saucer’s large diameter prevents two from sitting side-by-side on my espresso machine (if stacked the cups don’t warm up as well). Charming and Sturdy Wanted teacups for a few informal family tea parties. I searched high and low for about a year, looking for a cross between “pretty pretty princess tea time” and “not so feminine that the menfolk refuse to drink from them” with just a dash of “affordable” mixed in, and this set matched all my criteria. I have used them twice and everyone seemed to like them. Sturdy. I imagine they’d crack if you dropped them on a hard floor just like any non-plastic dish, but I’m pretty sure a little rough handling won’t chip them like with delicate china. I had great customer service from this company. One of the saucers was broken when the set arrived and the company sent me a replacement saucer right away, no fuss or hassle. simple but amazing I love these teacups for their simple elegance and the fact that they are perfect for their upcoming makeovers. Royal Albert Rose Cameo Collectible Teacup, Green This teacup has a beautiful design, but I was very disappointed when I received it. The cup and saucer were much thicker than I would have expected for a china teacup! It also had a problem with the scalloped design for the foot of the cup as this caused the cup to rock as it sat on the saucer. I sent it back as I could not imagine trying to drink tea from this cup! Perfect I am always nervous when ordering something like this online. I worry that it won’t be as pictured. This cup is just as beautiful as shown. I was more than pleased when it arrived, and proud to give it as a gift. The company also did a nice job shipping it. Not only did arrive quickly, they packed it so that there was almost no way it would break in the process. Shrunk in the Mail Portmeirion Botanic Garden Tea Cup and Saucer, Set of 6 They are considerably smaller than the set i purchased in England … i think maybe 6 ozs rather than 12 ozs. And obviously the saucers are smaller too. I kept the product but was greatly disappointed. The cup size should be printed, and in fact they cost more than the larger ones. The price was high in general, as i found them cheaper in a store near home. Internet shopping learning curve for me indeed. a new introduction, but the old was better Portmeirion introduces and discontinues items within a line, and has done so since they introduced Botanic Garden in 1972. Even the plates, which only have six flowers at any given time have had numerous flowers offered over the years. They have downsized the tureen. Fortunately, many discontinued items can still be found if one searches hard enough. Pretty but… The Royal Albert collectible tea cup and saucer are attractive and my daughters enjoy using them for our tea parties. But I felt the quality of the gold trim and the attention to detail wasn’t there. I guess you get what you pay for. Teacup Collectors come to Amazon!
