Disappointment! Alfi carafes are great but not this one! Exterior is perfect; inside shows wear (glass lining is spotty looking) but doesn’t affect function. The problem is the rubber seal which is loose and allows coffee to pour all over both you and your cup! A mess! I gave it away after one too many spills. Simply the best… Yes, it is expensive, but as one other reviewer said; it will last forever. We’ve now had our Alfi Opal carafe for well over 5 years and it’s still going strong. It keeps our coffee hot for hours on end (8+) and has a solid fool-proof seal that has never leaked a drop! BTW, this is not occasional use… we use it at least twice a day, 7 days a week! We brew our coffee straight into the carafe and simply rinse it out after we’re done. Yes, after all this time, the “white” stopper is brown, but still functions flawlessly! The best carafe ever! How to get rid of scratches on Fiestaware I have a type of dinnerware that’s very similar to Fiesta, Metlox Colorstax, and it gets knifemarks the way people are describing getting on Fiestaware. To get them off, I make a paste of Bon Ami cleanser & water, rub the paste all over the scratched parts of dish, leave the paste on for several minutes to half an hour, scrub the dish, then rinse it off. The knife marks disappear to a great extent because they are *on* the glaze, not cut into it. I imagine this would work as well with Fiestaware as it does Colorstax. Fun and durable but not perfect We purchased our Fiestaware set in cobalt two years ago. Overall, we have been very satisfied: no breaks or chips whatsoever. Love this new pattern!!! I saw this pattern at a local department store at Christmas time and immediately fell in love with it! The colors are so vivid and beautiful, each piece is a work of art. I was watching for the best sale prices ever since but my husband is an expert "surfer" and surprised me with all 8 place settings for my birthday. Great set for the buck We bought this set at Target, but found it for the same price at Bed, Bath and Beyond. It was the best set we could find for the money. Very nice heavy stainless steel utensils. We were considering buying flatware from a thrift store, but you might as well be eating off plastic- cheap silverware will bend like crazy. This set is great; very durable, strong tines on the forks and a nice feeling in the hand. I was concerned at first, about the "smoky" area wearing off, or the shiney circles changing in some way, but a year later they’re still in great shape, even after handwashing with an abrasive "sponge" (you know those green scrubbies…). I like the modern design and am planning and buying a second set, because these are a very timeless design and very durable, well-made silverware. Perfect for Roasting If you’ve never used a Well & Tree Platter, you are wise to read the reviews. It is very different from a other baking or roasting dishes. The well is an oval indentation in the platter that collects juices and fats that drain from the meat you are roasting on it. The tree carries those juices from beneath the meat to the well. The juices in the well can be used to rebaste the roast. I guess this platter is similar in design to a George Forman grill. It keeps your meat from just resting in fatty juices, by carrying them away to another part of the platter. This is also an attractive enough platter to use to serve as well – or you can have a fancier Well & Tree Platter for that. I use this pan to: roast chickens; bake meatloaf; reheat pizza slices; cook steaks, chicken breasts, or burgers under the oven broiler; and carry out other random tasks when other platters are in the dishwasher. My grandmother had a Well & Tree Platter and my mother now uses it.

curved bottom -not made in usa anymore I bought two W.A beer mugs as gifts, as this company used to provide superior products. One was shipped direct and i didnt get to inspect it but the recipient said was fine–the other, the bottom was not flat and the mug rocks. I offered to send it back because as much as you pay for these they should be perfect, but the recipient elected to keep it. You can tell they arent made in Pennsylvania anymore. Sad the quality of everything suffers when you try to do it on the cheap. Keeps beverages cold These mugs do what they are supposed to. Great Tray This was a gift to me and I used it for a Roast. I warmed the platter first and it stayed warm a long time. This product reminds me of the Pampered chef stoneware that I love to bake with but this is much prettier than the stoneware and it’s easier to keep clean. Beautiful Pitcher I’m really enjoying my new Blown Mexican glass pitcher in Lime Twist. While 98oz is advertised, it will actually hold closer to 110oz. This is a beautiful pitcher, and will make a great compliment to my tabletop this coming holiday season. The artistic detail in the handle of pitcher cannot be appreciated in a photo. Perfect I absolutely adore my teapot. My kids know they’re not allowed to touch it and even tattle tale on their dad if he even gets close to it. It’s one of my prized possessions in the kitchen. I love tea and my kids were starting to want tea as well so I had to get something for all of us and this one holds enough to serve 8!. It’s also sturdy stoneware, not flimsy. And of course – gorgeous. Love our new teapot! My husband and I have been looking for a large, reasonably priced, easy to clean teapot for over a year with no luck. We were delighted to find this lovely teapot from Pfaltzgraff. It holds over 64 oz. of tea and the spout does not drip. It has a wide opening at the top which makes it easy to get your hand inside if you need to, and a wide opening at the base of the spout to make that area easy to clean as well. Heavy weight clear glass NO LEAD plates… I purchased these dinner plates and I am very happy with the quality. They all came nicely packaged from Amazon and not 1 plate was broken. The reason I was looking for glass dinnerware is because I learned that most colored dinnerware has LEAD in it. The LEAD is found in the glaze that is used on the plate to make it look colorful and also if the dinnerware has any pattern there is usually LEAD in it as well. Most dinnerware from MEXICO and CHINA are the ones that have the highest amounts of LEAD. I also read that if your dinnerware is not Microwave safe, it has LEAD. Lead reacts to microwave heat and the plates will get very hot to the touch while the food stays cool. LEAD is very dangerous for young children even in small amounts. I did not want my children eating off plates that have LEAD in them that could get them sick. Corelle Watercolors Cute! Cute! Cute! I love the mix and match look this set offers while still coordinating. The only complaint I would come close to having, is that the bowls are very shallow. They are great for salads, but not for soup or cereal. My solution was to buy the Corelle Snack Pack in white. The plates are very functional, light in weight, and take up less space than traditional stoneware. Everyone who has been to my home has complimented me on my new dinnerware. Forever Corelle My mother had Corelle dishes about 25 years ago for a family of 9 and never a broken, cracked, or stained dish. From a California girl I have been collecting many different pieces of Portmeirion Botanic Garden since my wedding in 1991. Lots of the pieces were given to me as wedding gifts, and I continue to add to my collection. It is by far my favorite pattern and continues to be used daily. My fine china is still sitting unused! I love to use these dishes year round, especially during the holidays. I have had the dinner plates for at least 5 years and not a single one is chipped. All pieces are extremely durable and are dishwasher and microwave safe. I regularly use my Botanic Garden baking dishes and covered casserole in the oven and on the table. Good, but package is a little misleading I’m a fan of matcha green tea and bubble tea, so I gave this a try. It’s pretty good, but I have a couple of small complaints. The package shows the tapioca pearls, but the product itself does not contain these. There’s no disclaimer, like “serving suggestion.” So you’ll have to get your pearls somewhere else. Also, the package is quite big for home use, though I’m sure my family and I will use it up eventually. In the meantime, I’ll save a fortune by not going to the bubble tea shop. Lovely, versatile bowls I recently added the soup plates/bowls to my Botanic Garden collection and have been VERY pleased with them. They not only work beautifully for soups, pasta, and salads, but also function very well as small serving bowls. Each bowl will hold up to 16 ounces (if filled to the rim). The rim allows the bowl to be passed even if the contents are quite warm. I have not tried heating them in the oven, even to keep food warm, but Amazon’s product discription states that they are oven safe up to 340 degrees. Locally, I found the bowls available in the Convolvulus, Primula, Daisy, Fushia, Cyclamen, and Pansy patterns (have read that a Narcissus pattern is also available). For their versatility, they are well worth the price! Pleasantly surprised with quality and beauty. I love the Portmeirion Botanic beauty and quality. Beautiful Pattern! I fell in love with this pattern about 20 years ago, when my grandmother gave me 2 place settings. She continued to give me additional place settings as gifts over the years. Unfortunately, I’ve broken a few plates, so I ordered the 6 salad plates to supplement my collection. I ordered them on a Tuesday and received them on Friday using my free Super Saver Shipping. They arrived in perfect condition – lots of boxes and bubble wrap – and are just beautiful! I agree with others that they do fade after years of use, and I’ve had a few plates develop cracks, but again, this is after 15+ years of use. I never get sick of this pattern and would definitely recommend them. Pesakh Yaffa I decided to upgrade for Passover last Spring. I looked for as much of the Spode pieces for Passover as I could find after looking for a week or so for a design we liked. Artistic but traditional, and something that looks like it has been used for 100 years. The Spode Matzah Plate, the dishes featuring a Magen Dawid and Mazel Tov were perfect for more than Passover, the Kiddush Cup, and the Seder Plate. There are other pieces to collect, and you won’t find them all at Amazon or any one seller. But all this stuff is beautiful and matches perfectly. As a single piece not so much since it is distinctive enough to not match just anything you grab up. I’d like to see it in a lighter color but if you know anything about Spode stuff, and I don’t know much, it’s all this color. So….But a light blue or turquoise (like tkeilet) would be nice. These are the MOST perfect mugs for tea or coffee. I love being able to warm my tea up and still be able to handle the mug. I also like to warm my cream in the cup before pouring in coffee-warms the cream but you can still handle the mug. And I received all six individual absolutely beautiful mugs! Beautiful!! Wonderful! I ordered these for my mother and they came in perfect condition. An earlier review scared me off a little originally, as they said the bowls showed up broken. I had no such problem, and the bowls themselves are beautiful and very useful – I use them for salads as well as pasta. Excellent bowls. I am very pleased with these bowls. They are perfect for all sorts of things that the teeny, weeny bowls that come with a service of this china are too small to accomplish (must be a European thing.) GREAT GIFT!! I bought this marrow spoon along with the recommended book “BONES” as a Christmas gift for my son-in-law. He likes to make osso buco and the best part of that is the marrow. I know very few people have a marrow spoon so I looked it up on Amazon and found one. It is a pretty neat tool and a conversation piece. MY son-in-law loved it. I am a kitchen gadget collector myself and I plan on getting one for myself later on. I also love osso buco and I can use my marrow spoon when my son-in-law makes it. A most beautiful Seder plate – and I’m not Jewish! I gave this to a friend as a Wedding gift. The Spode Judaica collection is some of the most beautiful Judaica I’ve seen, and I’ve seen a lot shopping with friends who are Jewish. Oversized, heavy weight pieces, creamy white porcelean, richly detailed in a gorgeous blue with beautiful symbols taken from old judaica manuscripts. I’m planning to give more of these items as gifts for friends. As a gift, you can’t go wrong with anything from this collection for the person building a beautiful Jewish home. Shrunk in the Mail Portmeirion Botanic Garden Tea Cup and Saucer, Set of 6 They are considerably smaller than the set i purchased in England … i think maybe 6 ozs rather than 12 ozs. And obviously the saucers are smaller too. I kept the product but was greatly disappointed. The cup size should be printed, and in fact they cost more than the larger ones. The price was high in general, as i found them cheaper in a store near home. Internet shopping learning curve for me indeed. a new introduction, but the old was better Portmeirion introduces and discontinues items within a line, and has done so since they introduced Botanic Garden in 1972. Even the plates, which only have six flowers at any given time have had numerous flowers offered over the years. They have downsized the tureen. Pitting of surface Although I carefully follow the directions for cleaning this product, I find that the finish is getting small surface pits. I have written to Armetale about this problem but have not as yet heard from them, A beautiful salad set I got this for my mother in law for Christmas and she loves it. Armetale pieces are both beautiful and durable. She will be able to use it for many years. Disappointing The set arrived poorly packaged. Christmas Story China Excellent choice for a ‘fun’ dessert plate…for a luncheon or a dinner. Also is a great collectible item for gifts for children. The china is flawless; the story, of course, is timeless. Great Plates Love our new holiday plates. I was a bit worried about ordering plates through Amazon after reading a lot of reviews about plates being chipped and broken due to cheap packaging. I decided to order a set anyway knowing I could always return them. Mine came without a hitch – all in one piece. The packaging from Portmeirion company is sturdy and their box is just put into an Amazon box with a couple of those air ‘pillow’ things but nothing broke. I was so pleased I went ahead and ordered dinner plates and the mugs too. All arrived whole. All have nice art work and have been a big hit around here. Nice to add to our Christmas collection. Very nice quality, fast shipping I purchased this salad bowl set as a Christmas present. There was a 2-3 week shipping estimate, and the feedback for Mountain Woods contained some bad experiences with long shipping delays. I was hesitant to purchase this because I was worried that I might not receive the item in time. Despite this, I was pleasantly surprised when I received the item from Mountain Woods less than a week after placing the order. (Ordered on Tuesday, received the following Monday.) The bowls are beautiful, just as they look in the picture. They seem durable, and the finish is nice and smooth. The salad utensils complement the bowls nicely, and seem to be of fairly good quality as well. Overall, I am very pleased with the product, and I know my mother will love it.
